Community Befrienders
Grief can be isolating but no one should have to go through it alone. Our Community Befrienders initiative connects people with caring volunteers in their own local area to offer emotional companionship and practical support.
Local Volunteer Support Network
We’re building a compassionate, grassroots support system where grieving individuals can be matched with trained volunteers from their own community. Whether it’s a weekly check-in, a cup of tea, or help with errands, our volunteers offer a comforting presence during difficult times.
Volunteer Training Programme
Volunteers are the heart of this initiative. We offer a simple but comprehensive training programme to equip them with the skills needed to support others through grief and bereavement. This includes:
Active listening and compassionate communication
Understanding bereavement in an Islamic context
Signposting to other resources and support services
Boundaries and self-care for volunteers
Elderly Bereavement Support
Many elderly individuals experience prolonged loneliness and grief after the loss of a spouse, child, or friend. Our programme pairs them with a befriender who offers regular emotional support and companionship, helping to reduce isolation and improve emotional wellbeing.
Want to Volunteer?
We already have a growing group of volunteers ready to make a difference, but we always seek more kind-hearted individuals to join.
