Ruquyya Vankad
Ruquyya is a passionate educator, qualified teacher, and Islamic scholar who currently serves as the Deputy Head of Chaplaincy at Barts Health NHS Trust. With a robust academic foundation in Islamic studies and over a decade of experience in education, spiritual care, and community engagement, Ruquyya blends intellectual rigour with heartfelt empathy in everything she does.
Born and raised in the vibrant heart of East London, Ruquyya’s work is deeply rooted in the community she grew up in. She is known for her warm, approachable style and her ability to connect across cultures, generations, and faith traditions. Her chaplaincy work spans hospitals, educational settings, and the wider community where she provides holistic, faith-based support that honours both the spiritual and emotional needs of those she serves.
Whether teaching, delivering lectures, mentoring future chaplains, or supporting patients and families at their most vulnerable, Ruquyya is committed to providing care that is compassionate, culturally sensitive, and grounded in Islamic ethics.

Shaykh Ahmad Faruq Siddiqi
Faruq is a classically trained Islamic scholar and a dedicated Muslim Chaplain within the NHS, where he offers compassionate spiritual care to patients, families, and staff. With over a decade of counselling experience, he skilfully supports individuals through the many challenges and transitions of life.
His rich educational journey spans esteemed institutions in France, Syria, and Egypt, culminating in a degree in Shariah and Law from the prestigious Al-Azhar University. Faruq’s grounding in Quranic exegesis, theology, and Islamic jurisprudence is both deep and dynamic, reflecting a commitment to continuous learning and meaningful application.
Known for his calm presence and thoughtful guidance, Shaykh Ahmad has earned national recognition, including the Intensive Care Society’s Unsung Hero Award. His work bridges the depth of sacred knowledge with tangible, real-world impact rooted in service, empathy, and a deep sense of community.
